Segue Legacy High School
Central Falls, RI
Segue Institute for Learning is expanding its charter from a K-8 program serving 360 students to a K-12 educational program, serving 760 students. “Legacy High School”, Segue will also adjust its catchment area to open its high school program (only) to students from new communities within Rhode Island’s Urban Core (Pawtucket, Providence and Woonsocket) in fall 2025.
Legacy High School has been designed to serve three major goals:
- Expanding educational opportunity for youth from RI’s Urban Core, with a focus on increasing access to careers in the field of education.
- Addressing RI’s educator shortage, particularly the challenge of underrepresentation of (Black and Indigenous People of Color) BIPOC individuals in the teaching profession.
- Creating new opportunities for near-peer mentoring, tutoring and enrichment support for students in Segue’s K-8 program.
As such, the school will be focused on:
- Exemplary Teaching and Collaboration
- Rigorous Curriculum and Mastery Learning
- Ongoing Assessment to Monitor Progress and Teach on the Edge of Student Learning
- Focusing on the Whole Child
- Family Involvement & Empowerment
- Promoting Educator Practice as an Act of Social Justice
